Geek Parenting Self-Care Challenge Day 2

IMG_0760For our first challenge, we're going to be focusing on Financial Self-Care. Personally, this is one of the hardest components of self-care. I like to buy things for myself and others, I like to travel, I like to enjoy life. I also have a lot student loan debt.To start, we're going to take another short quiz about our Financial Health from NerdWallet.com. How did you do? Me.....CaptureSo, where do we start? With a Budget. There are tons of free tools online to help you start a budget.

The following steps can help you create a budget.
  1. Step 1: Note your net income. The first step in creating a budget is to identify the amount of money you have coming in.
  2. Step 2: Track your spending.
  3. Step 3: Set your goals.
  4. Step 4: Make a plan.
  5. Step 5: Adjust your habits if necessary.
  6. Step 6: Keep checking in.

Find your preferred tool and start! I've tried online budget tools, but I've discovered good old pen and paper work best for me when it comes to tracking anything (including calories).  I ordered this adorable little notebook to  help me get started via Amazon.com (It should be here today.)

Get your tool ready and tomorrow we are going to start creating a budget!Be sure to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and subscribe to our YouTube Channel!Use #gppselfcarechallenge on social media to participate!
